AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME
Longwood Florida - Leo R. Barrett -age 96, of Ridgeline Run, Longwood, Florida formerly of Waterbury, died peacefully at his home Wednesday March 17th , surrounded by his family after an extended illness.
Leo was born June 12, 1913 in Waterbury, the eldest son of the late James and Edna (Tarket) Barrett. He was educated in Waterbury Schools and was a life long resident of Waterbury with the exception of the past few years. Leo was a member if the US Army Signal Corps where he served in the Pacific theater campaigns during WWII. He worked as an aircraft parts dispatcher for Pratt and Whitney for many years before his retirement. He was an avid reader but the most important thing to Leo was his family with whom he enjoyed spending as much time as possible. Before moving to Florida, to be closer to his family, he was a long time parishioner of Saint Michael's Church.
Among his survivors are his two adopted daughters, Jenny Maiolo who was also his best friend and her husband Michael of Longwood Florida, Cassandra Barrett of TN, his brother, Eugene Barrett of Wolcott and his grandchildren Samantha Marie Maiolo and Steven Anthony Maiolo as well as many close friends and extended family members.
Funeral services for Mr. Barrett will be held on Saturday March 20th, 2010 at 9:15am from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home, 1581 East Main St Waterbury to Saint Michael's Church, 62 Saint Michael's Drive, Waterbury, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery Waterbury. Family and friends may visit the funeral home on Friday from 5 - 7pm. In lieu of flowers, donation maybe made to Saint Jude Children's Research foundation 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
