THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF LEO SANTOS
A full obWATERBURY - Leo Santos, age 83, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 26, 2020 at Waterbury Gardens Nursing Center for Rehab after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Virginia (Labbe) Santos.
Leo was born June 10, 1937 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Able and Virginia (Larosa) Dos Santos. Leo attended local schools and proudly served his country with the U.S. Army Reserves. In his younger years, Leo worked as a butcher at the former Gagliardi Farm for over 35 years and then continued his career as a machinist at Highland Manufacturing until his retirement in 1999. One of Leo's favorite past times was spending time in the yard or sitting on the patio relaxing. He was a BINGO and card enthusiast and look forward to making trips to Mohegan Sun but was always happiest when spending time with his family. He was a longtime parishioner of Mary Mother of the Church parish.
Left to cherish his memories and honor Leo's love and legacy, besides his wife of 62 years, Virginia, are his sons; Leo A. Santos and his wife, Martha , Thomas M. Santos and his wife, Dina all of Waterbury, his daughters; Susan Jean Santos of Thomaston and Lisa Genovese and her longtime boyfriend, Mark who shared their home with Leo and was his constant care taker and providers. He is also survived by his brother, Anthony Dos Santos of Waterbury and his sister, Emily Stevens of Naugatuck. Leo and Virginia were blessed with 4 devoted grandchildren; Thomas, Carlee, Steven Jr. and Michael Leo as well as his great grandchildren; Thomas, Kaidence and Breinleigh as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family members as well as his beloved fur baby Willow and his grand fur babies Angel and Rain who were his constant companions. Leo is predeceased by his siblings Rose Keane Santos, Al Santos, Joseph Santos, Augie Santos, and Abey Dos Santos
Funeral Services for Mr. Santos will be held on Thursday, July 2nd 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Mary Mother of the Church parish, St Leo the Great campus. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Interment will follow in Calvary, Garden of Angels Columbarium, Waterbury. Those planning to attend services are reminded that they must comply with all applicable State and Archdiocesan pandemic guidelines. There are no calling hours.
