AT THE CASEY - O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME - WATERBURY CT. Mr. Leo Purdy Vaughn, age 93, of Waterbury, passed on to eternal rest on Thursday evening at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of the late Eleanor (Moriarty) Vaughn.
Mr. Vaughn was born in Litchfield CT on March 2, 1917, the son of the late Daniel and Christine Purdy Vaughn. Educated in local schools, Leo was a veteran of the US Navy having proudly served his country during World War II as a radio commander on board B-25s. After a long career at Vaughn Brother TV Repair, he retired in 1985. Leo was an avid golfer and played often, right up till becoming ill. His favorite pass times were reading and watching the Boston Red Sox and the UCONN Basketball games. He was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church.
Leo is survived by his daughter, Lorraine and her husband, Dr. David Lowell of Cheshire, his son, Gerard Vaughn of Avon and his grandchildren, Yolanda Lowell, Kari Secrist, Shirin Lowell and Brenden Vaughn. He was predeceased by his brother Eugene Vaughn.
Funeral services with full military honors for Mr. Vaughn will be held on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 10am from the Casey - O'Donnell Family Funeral Home, 1581 East Main St Waterbury to Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 Robbins St Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home on Monday morning from 9 - 10 am.
