US Marine Corp Veteran
OAKVILLE – Leonide Plourde, age 84, of Oakville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home on August 26, 2023. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret (Gransky) Plourde.
Leonide was born on March 11, 1939 in Fort Kent, Maine, the son of the late Lionel and Leona (Belanger) Plourde. He was educated in local schools and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Leonide then went on to work for many years in the self-employed at B & M Trucking and then spent many of those years working for Tilcon. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and baking. Leonide was a long-time member of Lega Siciliana Social Club in Waterbury where he was a part time chef and enjoyed playing set back with his friends. What he cherished the most was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be forever remembered by all who were blessed to know and love him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his two sons; Michael (Lori) Plourde, and William (Pearl) Plourde, five grandchildren, Madeline Plourde, Francisco (Lauren) Torres, Ashley Miceli, Aimee (Dan) Atkins, Marnee (Dave) Moorcroft, eight great-grandchildren, Rylie, Guire, Giovanni, Kaile, Vincent, Colton, Jameson, and Adalyn, his beloved cat Ralph, He also leaves his siblings Samuel and Barbara, his friends who were like sons to him Neil (Patricia) Finke, and Dave (Bev) Ernst, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
The Plourde family would like to thank the compassionate nurses and aides who cared for Leonide during his illness.
Funeral Services for Mr. Plourde will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
