OAKVILLE - Lillian (Guerrera) DeLauretis, 83, lifetime resident of Oakville, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016 after a long and courageous battle against Dementia in Boynton Beach, Florida, with family by her side. Lillian was the beloved wife of the late Anthony DeLauretis for 56 years.
Lillian was born in Oakville, CT on April 11, 1933 to the late Rocco and Pasqualina (Longo) Guerrera. Lillian had been employed by Scovill Manufacturing and Albright Chemical for many years and then worked for Winchester Electronics until the time of her retirement. She enjoyed spending her summers with her family in Connecticut and her winters in Florida walking the beach and collecting shells with her husband. She will forever be remembered for her street sweeping, weeding, and chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting!
Lillian is survived by her son, William DeLauretis and his wife, Noreen, of Oakville; her daughter, MaryEllen Lafferty and her husband, Brian, of Oakville; four grandchildren Kelly Jo and her husband Jay Chidester, Christopher and his husband Dan Fox, Kaitlyn Lafferty and Nicholas Lafferty; one great-granddaughter Harper Chidester; siblings Antionette Cefaretti, Richard Guerrera, Patricia Jalbert and her husband Richard; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Rocco and Pasqualina Guerrera; brothers, Joseph and Carmen Guerrera; and sister Mary "Ruthy" Wasdo.
Lillian's family would like to express sincere gratitude to Hospice of Boynton Beach, Florida as well as Richard, Patricia, Justine, and Richard Jr. Jalbert, and her loving caregiver Annette Beckford. Also, a special thank you to her grandson, Nick, for his frequent visits with his grandmother, always taking the time to talk to her.
A celebration of Lillian's life will be on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, from 4pm to 6pm at the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St Oakville. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
