WATERBURY - Lionel Albert Green age 82 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 31st 2016, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after an extended illness. He was the husband of Lucretia (Webber) Green.
Mr. Green was born June 23rd 1934 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late David T. and Helen (Alisauska) Green. He was educated in local schools and proudly served his country with the US Air Force during the Korean War Conflict. Lionel was founder, owner, and operator of Lionel A. Green and Sons Appliance Repair and enjoyed boating, building and flying line controlled airplanes with his children and was an avid pool player during his youth. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
Besides his wife, Lucretia of 61 years, Lionel is survived by his sons, Patrick Green and his wife, Valerie of Oakville, David Green and his wife, Debra of Thomaston, and Andrew Green and his wife, Patricia of Naugatuck. He also leaves his daughter in-law, Lois Green of Wolcott and his sister, Helena Vallancourt of Naugatuck in addition to 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his two sons, Ronald and Matthew Green and his identical twin brother, David Green.
A Memorial Gathering for Mr. Green will be held on Tuesday, September 6th 2016 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main Street, Oakville, CT 06779. A graveside committal service with full military honors will be held on Wednesday, September 7th at 11:00am in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
