WATERBURY- Ms. Lisa A. Kukanskis, age 55, of Shirley St Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, January 12, 2014. She was the mother of Erik and Alex Kukanskis.
Lisa was born November 18th 1958 in Waterbury CT, the daughter of the late Peter and Hope (Sherman) Kukanskis. She was a lifelong Waterbury resident and graduated from Kennedy High School and earned her associates degree in Social Services from Naugatuck Valley Community Technical College and worked as a social worker for HELP Inc. Lisa will be remembered for always putting others first, whether it was a client she was working with, her family or her children. She was selfless in everyway. Lisa enjoyed music, especially old school punk rock and during her younger years she enjoyed traveling to NYC to attend concerts. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach but was always happiest while spending time with her family, especially her two sons.
In addition to her sons, Erik and Alex Kukanskis, both of Waterbury, Lisa is survived by her brother, Peter Kukanskis and his wife Nancy of Woodbury, her sister Lori Cestaro and her husband Ray of Waterbury as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Ms. Kukanskis will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Eastside Memorial, a Casey Family Funeral Home and Tribute Center, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Lisa's family on Friday morning at the funeral home from 9:00am until the service at 10am.
