WATERBURY - Mrs. Lois (Potz) Groody age 89 of Waterbury passed away unexpectedly at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Marys Hospital. She was the widow of Robert Groody after 50 years of marriage.
Lois was born on December 28, 1930 in New Haven the daughter of the late Otto and Emma (Schwartz) Potz. She was raised lovingly by Victoria (Conda) Potz after her birth-mother died when Lois was 2 years old. Lois worked at Uniroyal Footwear Division for many years. She was a deacon for 30 years at Mill Plain Union Church. She was an avid gardener, loved her cats and was a woman of very deep faith. One of the most memorable and moving events of her life was her pilgrimage to Israel with her church family and walked the steps where Jesus walked. She was devoted to her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Lois leaves to celebrate her life, her brother, Robert Potz and his wife, Loretta of Southbury, her sister, Elaine Chasse and her husband Clifford of Wolcott and as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Potz Jagello.
Funeral services for Mrs. Groody will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m at the Mill Plain Union Church Southmayd Rd in Waterbury with the Rev. Paul Fontanez officiating. Burial will follow in Old Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, to honor Lois's memory, donations to Mill Plain Union Church 256 Southmayd Rd Waterbury CT 06705 would be appreciated.
