AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME - OAKVILLE - Lois (Doolittle) Thut, age 76, of Cobb St. Oakville, died Thursday morning at home after a brief illness, with her loving family by her side.

Lois was born November 14, 1932 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late William and Mildred (Feltman) Doolittle. She was a graduate of Bucks Hill School and Crosby High School. She attended New England School of Theology and Aurora Christian College.. While in Illinois, she worked for GE Western Electric and upon returning to the area, she was employed for many years at Sperry ?" Unisys Corp as a custom wire person. After the company's closing, she studied at the CT Culinary Institute and worked as a cook for several area rectories. She was an active member of First Congregational Church in Watertown and was a member of their prayer shawl group. She enjoyed knitting and needlework but most of all she loved caring and watching over her family.

Lois leaves five children, her sons, Michael Thut of Waterbury and Dean Thut of Watertown, three daughters, Sandra Duncan of Oakville, and Jill Hajrula and Leslie Ciarlo both of Watertown. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, Carl, Erica, Andrew, Laura, Adam, Sami, Semra. Nicholas, Kristina, Thomas and Christopher and 2 great grandchildren, Emmery and Dempsey. Lois was predeceased by her brother William Thomas Doolittle and also leaves a sister, Phyllis Elliott as well as a sister-in-law Dorothy Doolittle and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs Thut will be held on Monday, August 10, 2009 at 10:00am at First Congregational Church of Watertown, 40 DeForest St. Watertown CT, Rev Sam Dexter, officiating. Attendees are asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Bucks Hill Cemetery, Waterbury. Visiting hours for Mrs. Thut are scheduled for Sunday afternoon from 4 ?" 6pm at the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St Oakville CT.
