OAKVILLE – Lois A (King) Van Wagner, age 89, of Cobb Street, Oakville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the widow of Deroy F. Van Wagner.
Lois was born on May 30, 1934, in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Frederick and Estell (Clark) King. She was educated in local schools, where she was raised, eventually moving to Oakville where her and Deroy raised a family of their own. Lois worked for many years for the Watertown School System as a school crossing guard and school bus aide. She enjoyed going out to eat, shopping at her favorite stores, and attending the local fairs. Most of all, Lois cherished spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to know her and love her.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her children; Linda (Michael) Baker of Augusta, Maine, Deroy F Van Wagner Jr. and his partner, Linda DeSantis of Oakville, Patricia (Art) Collins of Oakville, Grace Ismail and her partner Ed Daly of Longs, South Carolina, David Van Wagner of Waterbury, Steven (Kendra) Van Wagner of Longs, South Carolina and Kenny Van Wagner of Torrington. Lois was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Shirley Annelli of Great Barrington, Massachusetts, along with extended family and friends. Lois was predeceased by her grandson, Art Collins Jr., her brother, Fred, and her two sisters: Mae and Alice.

Graveside committal services for Mrs. Van Wagner will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Saint James Cemetery, Porter Street, Watertown. All those attending are asked to meet directly at the cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Lois’s family on Thursday evening, July 27, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Casey-O’Neill Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 742 Main St. Oakville, CT 06779.
