WATERBURY - Lorraine Jean Coffey, age 83 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 8th 2016 at The Vitas Innovative Care Unit of Saint Mary's Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of her family after a brief illness. She was the widow of Arnold Coffey.
Mrs. Coffey was born May 16th 1932 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late James B. and Lillian E. (Knoblock) Lovett. She was educated in Brooklyn and spent most of her life raising her family. She enjoyed roller skating and crocheting and was a talented cook. As her children grew older, she was employed by Perkin Elmer Corporation doing clerical work until her retirement. After retiring, she was the owner and operator of Arnold's Eatery in Brookfield and Coffey's Cup & Saucer in Dover Plains, NY where she worked alongside her husband until their official retirement to Florida. Lorraine was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Waterbury where she served as a deacon for many years. She will be remembered for her outgoing and social personality, the annual family vacations, and her love of Greek festivals and always finding that hidden diner to enjoy good food. .
Among her survivors are her sons, Keith G. Borst of Texas, Gary J. Borst of California, Craig A. Borst (Jennifer) of North Carolina, her daughters, Phyllis J. Andersen of Waterbury, and Janice A. Fordham (Calvin) of Beacon Falls. She also leaves her grandchildren, Colleen, Celina, Keith, Mason, Brian, and Lauren, as well as a host of cousins, various relatives and many great friends and her beloved Chihuahua Ginger Snaps.
Memorial Services for Mrs. Coffey will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016, her 84th birthday at First Congregational Church of Waterbury 222 West Main St Waterbury CT at 11:00am. Relatives and friends of Mrs. Coffey may visit with her family at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00am. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted to assist the family with the arrangements.
