WATERTOWN - Louis Frederick Marano age 88 formerly of Knowlton Street died December 1, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the widower of Ruthlyn "Raye" (Fenn).

Louis was born July 12, 1925 in Waterbury a son of the late Frederick Louis and Concetta (Granata) Marano and lived in Watertown for over 59 years. He attended Sacred Heart High school in Waterbury. Prior to his retirement in 1990 Louis was employed as a plumber at Waterbury Hospital and also owned Marpet Plumbing and Heating for many years. Louis proudly served his country in the United States Navy, he was a member of the VFW Post 7330 in Oakville, Waterbury Hospital Evergreen Club, he was an avid gardener and New York Yankee fan who had an extensive collection of baseball hats. Louis found his greatest joy spending time with his beloved children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He leaves a daughter Kathryn A. Razza and her husband Louis D. of Watertown, a son Frederick L. Marano and his wife Elaine M. of Watertown, a sister Louise Scarpa of Waterbury, five grandchildren Marc Razza and his wife Christine of Monson MA, Lynda Houghtaling of Ellington, Colleen Montagno and her husband Anthony of Watertown, David Marano of Irvine CA, Lori Cooney and her husband Daniel of Naugatuck, five great-grandchildren Sara Razza, Gavin and Mira Houghtaling, Nathan and Matthew Cooney and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters Connie Chiero and Teresa Santoro.
Funeral Wednesday December 4, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Saint John the Evangelist Church. Those attending are asked to meet directly at the church. Rites of Committal with full military honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main Street, Oakville, CT 06779 Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Holy Land, Waterbury P.O.
