WATERBURY, CT – Mrs. Louise (Lombardo) Lynch, a native and lifelong resident of the City of Waterbury, Connecticut, died on Sunday evening, January 29, 2023, at 84 years of age. She was the wife of Bernard M. Lynch, Sr., wed in 1959 at Waterbury’s Sacred Heart Church.
Louise was born on July 25, 1938, the second of three children of the late Louise (Ditoto) Lombardo (1911-1991) of Waterbury and James Lombardo (1908-1985) of Mechanicville, New York. She was a 1952 graduate of Sacred Heart Elementary School and a 1956 graduate of Sacred Heart High School. From 1969-1997, Louise was employed by the State of Connecticut at Waterbury’s Mattatuck Community College.
During her lifetime, Louise enjoyed spending time with her large extended family, watching UConn women’s basketball, duckpin bowling and golf, and most especially baking traditional Italian cookies at Easter and Christmas with her grandchildren. Just days before passing, after receiving the Sacrament of Last Rites, she said, “I just wanted to be a good wife, a good mother, and a good friend.”
Louise was predeceased by her elder sister, Ann (Lombardo) Brandmeyer (1935-2012), as well as her youngest daughter, Maureen Ann (Lynch) Dion (1963-2016) and eldest son, Bernard M. Lynch, Jr. (1960-2017). She is survived by one sister, Dolores (Lombardo) White of Waterbury; three children, Louise E. Lynch of Cheshire, Daniel M. Lynch of Waterbury, and Steven M. Lynch (and wife Jennifer) of Granby; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Dion) Lenzi (and husband John) of Warwick RI, Hannah Wells Lynch of Boston, MA, Kaylyn (Dion) Brassil (and husband Timothy) of Warwick RI, Eliza Catherine Lynch of Atlanta, GA, and Declan Robert Lynch and Nathan Patrick Lynch, both of Granby, CT. She also leaves three great grandchildren, Olivia Lenzi, Benjamin Brassil, and Connor Lenzi, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and their families, and many cherished friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 785 Highland Avenue, Waterbury. Burial will immediately follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 669 Platt Road, Watertown CT.
