THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF LOURDES RIVERA
WATERBURY - Ms Lourdes Milagros Rivera age 60, of Waterbury passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 23, 2020 surrounded by the love and comfort of her family at the VITAS Hospice Innovative Care Unit in St Mary's Hospital.
Lourdes was born November 21, 1959 in Ponce, Puerto Rico daughter of the late Maria Irene Torres and Manuel Rivera. Lourdes moved to Waterbury with her mother Maria in 1989. After her mother's passing in 2004, Lourdes lived under the care of her sister Nelida Gonzalez. She attended Bidwell Center of Waterbury from February 2004 until January 2020 and spent the next few months under hospice care with New Foundations in Waterbury. Lourdes was provided the most comfortable life that could be offered before passing away and her family is grateful to all of her caretakers who helped care for Lourdes during her illness. Lourdes loved to pose for pictures, she loved to dance and enjoyed music. Lourdes also loved putting puzzles together, drawing and coloring books she always looked forward to buying a new book bag regularly, which she readily supplied with new paper and crayons.
Left to honor Lourdes love and legacy are her 3 sisters, Nelida Gonzalez of Waterbury, Maria Gonzalez of Puerto Rico, Santia Rivera of Waterbury, her 4 brothers, Juan Rivera of Waterbury, Javier Rivera of Waterbury, Osvaldo Gonzalez of Puerto Rico, and Adali Gonzalez as well as the late Domingo Gonzalez. Lourdes is also survived by 23 first nieces and nephews and 65 second nieces and nephews who adored her. The first nieces and nephews are Camille, Mary Nelly, Walter, Johanna, Alicia, Lorena, Glenda, Maria, Charlie, Carol, Alexis, Stephanie, Maribella, Osvaldo, Edwin, Juan, Joel, Madeline, Martbara, Javier, Leonela, Milene, and Sara.
Graveside services for Ms. Rivera will be held on Thursday October 1st 2020 at 11:00 in New Pine Grove Cemetery 850 Meriden Rd. Waterbury, CT 06705.
