AT THE CASEY - O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME - WATERBURY CT. Mrs. Lucie (Falcone) Beland, age 87, of Enoch St. Waterbury, entered the gates of heaven on Sunday, January 23, 2011 from St. Mary's Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Leslie Beland for the past 46 years.
Lucie was born on May 28, 1923 in Waterbury the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Beccia) Falcone. She was a graduate of Wilby High School where she excelled in art and stenography. She loved sketching people and ultimately became an accomplished artist. Lucie worked for 10 years at the Bristol Co. after which she worked at the City of Waterbury in the City Planning Dept. Lucie's happiest moments were when she was conducting art classes at the Waterbury Girls Club. Lucie also learned yoga and taught it to others. In her later years, Lucie devoted most of her time caring for her aged mother, "Mima" before she passed.
Besides her loving and devoted husband of 46 years, Lucie leaves a daughter Eileen Thomas of Staten Island NY, a brother Michael Falcone of Waterbury and 3 sisters, Philomena "Fanny" Falcone, Antoinette McDermott both of Waterbury and Maria McCarthy of Peoria AZ. Lucie was predeceased by her older brother, Danny Falcone.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Beland are pending.from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St, Waterbury to St Leo the Great Church, Bentwood Dr Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home.
