WATERTOWN - Lucille Merle McCarthy 80, of Watertown, passed away peacefully on Monday December 27, 2021 at Waterbury Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family after an extended illness. She was the wife of Gary McCarthy.

Lucille was born in the Bronx, NY on September 13th 1941, where she was raised and educated. She received her Nursing Degree from the Bellevue Hospital Medical School and spent several years working at that prestigious facility. Lucille practiced as an R.N. in Long Island, Ohio and more recently at the Lutheran Home of Southbury for 31 years before her retirement in 2001. Lucille loved to travel and has many fond memories of her trips to Australia, New Zealand, Scotland, Ireland, England and Israel. She was a longtime parishioner of Saint John the Evangelist Church in Watertown and loved to spend summers in Ocean City, Maryland. She also enjoyed feeding her local birds that came to visit but was always happiest when being able to spend time with her grandchildren.
