New Britain Lucy (Massarelli) Gibeault, age 83, formerly of Giles St and Eastgate Apts. Waterbury, died peacefully Monday at Brittany Farms Nursing Center after an extended illness. She was the widow of Leonard Gibeault
Lucy was born in Waterbury on June 10, 1924, the daughter of the late Francesco and Carmella (Guarino) Massarelli. She was educated in local schools and worked for both the Waterbury Mfg. Companies and Baldwin Mfg. She, her husband and family were long time and active parishioners of Sacred Heart Church in Waterbury for over 30 years. She will be remembered for being a loyal friend and neighbor to many.
Lucy is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann Fitzgerald of West Hartford and the pride and joy of her life, her three grandchildren, Lauren, Tara and Mark Fitzgerald. She was pre-deceased by a son Leonard Jr. and three brothers, Joseph, Anthony and Armand Massarelli. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gibeault will be held on Wednesday June 11, 2008, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at Sacred Heart Church, 13 Wolcott ST Waterbury at 10:30am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Family and friends may visit at the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home, 1581 E. Main Street Waterbury on Wednesday from 9:00am until the procession leaves for church.
