Loving mother, grandmother, sister, amazing aunt and friend
NAUGATUCK - Lunilda Laracuente Martinez age 70 of Naugatuck, left this earth to be with the Lord on December 21, 2020. She passed away peacefully and with a smile on her face as she always wished.
Lunilda was born on August 25, 1950 in Manhattan, New York, the daughter of the late Maria Rosa Vega and Pedro Laracuente. Lunilda completed her studies to become certified as a Substance Abuse Counselor, as well as graduated from Spanish Eastern Bible Institute of the Assemblies of God, as both these areas were very dear to her and very personal. Yet nothing was more of an achievement than her family. Lunilda faced each day loving her children and grandchildren, giving selflessly and sacrificing in many ways for them. Nothing was more important than keeping family close and together. Her passion was fueled by her love and devotion to see her loved ones united, healed and serving Christ. No wealth, fame or worldly temptation could separate Lunilda from God or family. That was who Lunilda was. She had a fire in her soul and a stubborn love. This was her strength, fighting for healing and forgiveness, until her last breath.
Left to honor Lunilda's love and legacy are her four children; Lunilda Martinez and Luz Lisa Martinez, both of Naugatuck, Abiel Martinez Jr,, of Etna, ME and Eliezer J. Martinez of Gainesville, FL. She also leaves behind 7 brothers and sisters, Pedro Laracuente, Charles Laracuente, Jose Laracuente, Raymond Laracuente, Maria Medina, all of Waterbury, Iris Weymer of Plainville and Rose Nazario of Florida. Lastly, she leaves 13 grandchildren, who will miss her beyond words, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who have mentioned missing Lunilda's laughter the most. All of her loved ones will honor her memory in their everyday life, never taking life for granted and embracing life's simplest pleasures.
Funeral services for Mrs. Martinez will be held on Saturday, January 9th 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services 1987 East Main St Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Lunilda's family at the funeral home for a walkthrough visitation from 9:30 a.m util the service at 10:30 a.m. All governmental restrictions related to covid#19 will be strictly enforced.
