WATERBURY, CT - Luz "Esther" Rivera-Acosta, age 70, affectionately known as "Esther" passed away unexpectedly at Waterbury Hospital on Monday July 17, 2017 with her family by her side. She was the devoted wife, soulmate and best friend of Adalberto "Tutin" Acosta.
Esther was born on July 14, 1947 in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico the daughter of the late Angel and Margarita Rivera. Esther touched the lives of everyone she met, and will be forever loved and remembered for her cheerful personality, extraordinary kindness, brilliant mind, great sense of humor, and being so caring. Her family meant the world to her. Esther found joy in the simplest things in life.
Esther is survived by her loving husband and soul mate of 50 years, Adalberto "Tutin" Acosta. Esther and Tutin walked together as one flesh; serving unknowingly as role models of how to live out the tenants of marital vows; "for better or for worse; in sickness and in health; till death do us part." Through their union, God blessed them with 3 children, Adrian "Pete" Acosta and wife, Evelyn Acosta, Maritza "Mari" Acosta and husband, Anthony Gay, and Lizette Acosta and her fiancé, Leroy Addison Jr. Esther was predeceased by her parents and her son, Jose Rivera. She also leaves to her cherish two stepchildren, Albert Acosta and Angel Luis Acosta as well as her seven grandchildren; Jamell Battle, Adrian Acosta Jr., Eliza Addison , Noah Gay, Erica Ziarno, Ivelise and Angel Rodriguez. In addition to her cherished grandchildren, Esther leaves behind 8 siblings, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who will all miss her dearly.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rivera-Acosta will be held on Monday, July 24, 2017 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Margaret's Church, 289 Willow St Waterbury at 10:00 a.m. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Esther's family on Sunday July 23, 2017 at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd.
