THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF LYDIA KIERMONT

WATERBURY - Lydia (DeVito, Cantito) Kiermont age 81 of Waterbury passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by the love and comfort of her family and friends on Friday March 2, 2018 after a well-fought, 21 month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the widow of the late Edward Kiermont.

Lydia was born November 9th 1936 in Waterbury, CT the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Carmella DeVito. Lydia was vivacious and the life of the party wherever she went. She worked for years for ADT Security in Waterbury. She was very active in the Prospect Senior Center where she was a award winning Wii Bowler, and was an avid card player, theater-goer and dog lover. She volunteered at the Seven Angels Theater and never said no to a trip to the Mohegan Sun Casino. She was a welcome and constant presence as her son Ralph catered events all over the state.

The Kiermont family would like to thank TEAM LYDIA, who for 18 months provided treatment, transportation, carpentry, food, flowers, good cheer and friendship; The Staff at Smillow Cancer Center at Yale, Hartford Healthcare at Home Hospice Care including Beverly and Doris and especially Companion Richard Diaferio, Uber Joe Holovach, Consummate Host Al Vagnini, Master of Everything Patty Russo, and Angel on Earth Ellen O'Hara.

Among her survivors are her children, Ralph Cantito of Waterbury, Bernadette Hebert and her husband Jack of Florida. Her Granddaughter Sarah Cantito and her parents, Patricia and Sam Russo of Oakville, her step son Kurt Kiermont and step daughter Diane Jauch. She also leaves behind a sister in-law Lucille Sosnowski, a niece Judy Miller and her husband, Ron and their children Sarah and Megan of Southington as well as her nephews Vincent and Joseph DeVito of Bristol

A Memorial Service for Mrs. Kiermont will be on Monday, March 5th at 6:00pm at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may visit with Lydia's family on Monday evening from 4:00 to 6:00pm at the funeral home.
