AT THE CASEY - O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME - Waterbury - Madeline F. (Fainelli) Moriarty, age 95, of Laval St. Waterbury, died peacefully Sunday at her home with her loving family at her side. She was the widow of John J. Moriarty.
Madeline was born in Kingston NY on January 18, 1915, one of seven children of the late Olympio and Teresa (DeCapua) Fainelli. She was educated in local schools and was a graduate of the practical nurse program at Manchester Memorial Hospital. In her youth, she worked at the US Rubber in Naugatuck where her friends all called her "Nancy". After completing the practical nurse program she worked in several states including New York, Kentucky & Florida during World War II. She developed deep friendships which she maintained for many years. Madeline enjoyed flowers, big band and swing music and Broadway musicals. She also enjoyed knitting, bowling and cooking. As a practical nurse she worked for many years at Hillside Manor Retirement Home in Waterbury. Most of all she loved being with her family, caring for her grandchildren and keeping her family close. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church in Waterbury.
Madeline leaves her three children; son Timothy of Waterbury and daughters, Theresa and Joy Moriarty both of Waterbury, her devoted grandchildren, Marta Urban, Sean Moriarty and Christine Carmody and her great grandchildren, Zachary and Noah Francisco. She also leaves two brothers, Frank Fainelli of Ormond Beach FL and Louis Fainelli of Middlebury as well as several nieces and nephews. .
Funeral services for Mrs. Moriarty will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 9:30am from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St Waterbury to St Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin St. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 8:30 - 9:30am. Memorial donations in Mrs. Moriarty's memory may be made to the St. Francis Xavier School Development Fund, 605 Baldwin St Waterbury CT 06706.
