WATERBURY - Manuel Enrique Bonilla age 38 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was the husband of Katherine (Velez) Bonilla.
Manny was born on March 8, 1978 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, the son of Morris and Altagarcia (Zaiter) Pichardo. He was an accomplished gymnastics coach at both C.A.T. S. Gymnastics in Cheshire and Quinnipiac University. Manny was a mentor to so many of the area youth as their coach. He was a bright and charismatic man. A special person who had a talent to motivate and inspire the youth that he coached and helped lead them to productive lives. Most of all he loved his wife and family and he will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew him. Simply put..... "he was the best".
Besides his devoted wife, Kathy and his parents of Omaha Nebraska, Manny leaves his son, Ohanis Manuel Bonilla and his daughter, Aylanie Sujey Bonilla both of Waterbury, his sister, Sujey Pichardo and his niece, Nailah Pichardo both of Omaha NE. He also leaves his beloved mother and father in law, Maria and Jose Velez of Waterbury and his sister in law, Winnie Velez and brother in law, Jose Velez.
Funeral services for Mr. Bonilla will be held on Wednesday February 8, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd in Waterbury. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
