Born in Utuado, Puerto Rico
WATERBURY– It is with overwhelming sadness and profound grief that we announce the unexpected passing of Marcelino Cintron, age 79, of Waterbury, who passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, January 5, 2024.
Marcelino was born May 4, 1944, in Utuado, Puerto Rico, one of eighteen children of the late Francisco and Cecilia (Rodriguez) Cintron. He was raised and attended local schools in Utuado, and at the age of 20, Marcelino moved to the Waterbury area with his family. He spent many years working for Scovill Manufacturing, Century Brass as a tool setter and later worked as a carpenter for various construction companies throughout the area until his retirement. Marcelino loved to spend time outdoors, especially in his yard. He always kept a manicured lawn, a pristine yard, and even though he could rarely eat tomatoes, every spring he would plant and tend to several dozen tomato plants and share them with his family and friends. Marcelino was proud of his Puerto Rican heritage and loved to cook traditional Latin meals for his family which will be one of the many things they will miss most about him. Marcelino had a strong Catholic faith and was a long-time communicant of Sacred Heart (Sagrado Corazon) parish.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his daughters; Alicia Cintron and her fiancé, Robert Giancarli, of Waterbury, with whom Marcelino made his home, and Eliza Palmieri and her husband, Anthony, of Southington. He also leaves his granddaughter, Masyn Larrivee, and 8 brothers and 7 sisters who live in Puerto Rico, with one of those brothers living in Waterbury and one sister living in New Jersey, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends. He was predeceased by three brothers.
