WATERBURY - Margaret (Voghel) Desnoyers age 99, passed away peacefully at her beloved home on Saturday, December 11,2021. Margaret was born on February 13, 1922 in New Bedford, MA , the daughter of the late Hilaire and Maria (Cote )Voghel . She was married for 62 years to the late Gerald "Gerry" Desnoyers.
Margaret was a proud Southern New England Telephone SNET employee for more than 4 decades starting as an operator and rising through the ranks to become a top sales performer. She formed many life long personal relationships with her colleagues. Margaret was a devout Catholic, attending daily Mass, teaching CCD classes and leading multiple prayer groups. An avid traveler she most enjoyed her trips to the Vatican and Holy Land and frequently visited the Divine Mercy Shrine. She enjoyed winters in Florida and summer travels to Cape Cod and Canada. May her 99 year legacy represent a life well lived which was all that she hoped and prayed for. She will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed to know and love her.
Margaret is survived by her sister, Janet ( Voghel) Sheil, and she was most proud to be "Ma Tante" to 23 nieces and nephews, 64 great nieces and nephews, and 6 great great nieces and nephews. Left to cherish her memory, and honor her legacy are: Catherine (Jim) Smith, Joan ( Jim) Hartley , Maureen Voghel, Sydney (Paul) Ochs, Don Voghel, Michelle (Bill) Morris, Elaine ( Michael ) Smith, Robert (Mary), Jackie ( Michael) Duggan, Karen ( David) Kleinman, Peggy ( Bill) Palomba, Eddie Voghel, Caroline ( Daryl Parker ) Voghel, Peter ( Ellen) Sheil, Rachel (Frank, deceased) Lacombe, MaryAnn (Vincent) Britt, James (Karen) Sheil, Patrice ( Michael) Afflitto, John (Christine) Sheil, Kathryn (Edward) Sady, Regina (Noel) Graydon, Christopher ( Diane) Sheil, Colleen (Andrew) DeVita, Margaret ( Tedd) Cecchetelli, Michael ( Debbie), Jeanne Marie (Paul) Phaneuf. Margaret was predeceased by her brothers, Larry and Don Voghel and sisters-in-law, Irene and Pauline Voghel.
Margaret's family wishes to acknowledge and extend their profound appreciation to Margaret's caretaker, Tarvine Tinker for the care and love she shared with their Aunt and her family throughout the years.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Desnoyers will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021, when Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Mary Mother of the Church Parish, SS Peter and Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Margaret will be interred next to her husband in Mt Olivet Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
