Mrs. Margaret Mary Finkenzeller

Devoted to her family and her faith

WATERBURY- Margaret Mary (McKeown) Finkenzeller, age 83, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Sheriden Woods Health Care Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Howard “Skip” Finkenzeller.

Margaret was born on December 28, 1939, in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Vincent and Winfred (Fehrs) McKeown. She attended local schools, graduated from Sacred Heart High School, and after graduation Margaret went on to work for many years as a bank teller for both Colonial and First Federal banks. After raising her five children, Margaret went back to work as a secretary for Sacred Heart High School. Margaret was a devoted parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Church as well as being an active member in all of the parish activities. She enjoyed making quilts and gifting them to her loved ones after completion. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, and she was known for her delicious homemade sour cream coffee cake. She loved Cape Cod enjoying the peace and comfort that the area provided, so much so that she had a second home there. Margaret was exceptional in many ways but she excelled at being a devoted mother who never missed one of her children’s sports games, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to know and love her. Our family thanks you Mom, for every prayer you uttered for us, for the many sacrifices you made for us, for thousands of hugs you shared with us and the unending love you instilled in all of us.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her five devoted children; John Howard (Lisa) Finkenzeller, Cathy Ann Finkenzeller-Savacos, Mark (Frances) Finkenzeller, Brian (Melissa) Finkenzeller, and Scott Finkenzeller, her seven grandchildren; Erik Finkenzeller Sr., Kasey Perkins, Matthew Finkenzeller, Elizabeth Finkenzeller, Cristina Finkenzeller, Timothy Finkenzeller, and Wyatt Tarbunas, and her three great grandchildren; Erik Finkenzeller Jr., Evan Finkenzeller, and Hudson Finkenzeller. She also leaves her sister, Wendy (Dan) Gurga, and brother, James McKeown, brothers-in-law; Bill (Nancy) Finkenzeller, Bob (Sue) Finkenzeller, sister-in-law, Kate Finkenzeller along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Funeral services for Margaret will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 11: 00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mary Mother of the Church Parish, St. Leo the Great Church, 14 Bentwood Drive, Waterbury, CT. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Margaret’s family on Thursday, November 9th, 2023 from 5: 00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT.
