THE CASEY FAMILY OS HONORED TO CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF MARGARET GREY
SOUTHINGTON - Mrs. Margaret (Peggy) M. Grey, age 88 of Southington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Southington Care Center surrounded by the love and comfort of her family after an extended illness. She was the loving wife of the late Cecil "Cy" Grey.
Mrs. Grey was born June 27, 1929 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Maurice and Hanorah "Anna" (Leary) Shea. Margaret was a graduate of Croft High School and spent 17 years working as a baker for the Waterbury School System until her retirement in 1994. She was a parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church in Waterbury where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and was also a former member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Ladies Auxiliary. Margaret was an extremely gifted baker and enjoyed cooking, crafting with ceramics, crocheting, and needle point. She found great joy spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, and her many trips to Ireland with friends. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Among her survivors are her children; Eric Grey and his wife, Karen of Cheshire, Mary Lanza of Southington, Ann Grey and her partner, Lou Antonelli of Southington, Moe Grey of Plantsville and Ruth Grey all of Southington. In addition, she is also survived by her five grandchildren Charlie Grey of Washington, DC; Jennifer Humphrey and her husband Jason of Southington; Matthew Grey of Cheshire,; Brandon Lanza and his wife Laura of Plainville and Kalee Higgins Grey of Prospect along with six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister, Mervlyn Walker, her brother, John Shea, and her son in law, Peter Lanza.
The Grey family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Southington Care Center for the exceptional care their mother received.
Funeral services for Mrs. Grey will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. Saint Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin St Waterbury when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with Margaret's family at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury on Friday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 pm.
