WATERTOWN - Margaret C. Mazeika, age 87 of Watertown passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the Lutheran Home of Southbury after an extended illness. 

Margaret was born on May 24, 1937, in Waterbury the daughter of the late Harold & Lillian Coer, Sr. Margaret was educated in local schools and as a young woman, Margaret worked at Waterbury Hospital as a Food Supervisor for 5 years. It was there that she met her future husband, Raymond, the son of a patient. They courted, fell in love and were happily married for 47 years. Margaret spent 32 years working at True Love & McLean before retiring to Florida. She and Raymond enjoyed many years of traveling with their camper. Although they had no children of their own, they often held sleepovers with many of their nieces and nephews, always intent on showing them a good time camping, fishing or taking them out for pizza at Ro’s. In her later years she was an avid reader of romance and mysteries. She also grew in her faith with the encouragement of her sister, Eleanor. She prayed her rosary daily, often 15 decades. Margaret trusted in the Lord.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Raymond, her brother, Harold Coer, Jr., her sister, Eleanor Charland, her twin brothers, Raymond and Robert Coer, and her sister, Louise Donlan. Margaret leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Her nieces, Suzanne Hoyt and Lisa Hanson, were her caregivers for several years before she entered The Lutheran Home. 

Funeral services for Mrs Mazeika will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Disciples Parish, St John the Evangelist Church, 574 Main St Watertown. Committal will be held privately at the convenience of the family. To honor Margaret’s memory and in lieu of flowers, her family suggests offering a Catholic memorial Mass for the repose of Margaret’s soul.
