WATERBURY- Margaret “Peg” Moriarty, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023, after a short illness, with her loving family by her side.
Peg was born in Castle Gregory, County Kerry, Ireland, the daughter of the late Michael and Margaret Moriarty. She came to America in 1946 and was back in fourth to Ireland until she decided to settle in Waterbury, where she raised her family. She was a homemaker and part time cafeteria worker at Driggs Elementary School until 1979 when she began working at Hillside Manor. In 2000, Peg started working at Southmayd Home until her retirement at the age of 90. Peg adored her family and looked forward to visits from her sister Kitty and many nieces and nephews from Ireland. She was delighted to become a grandmother and great grandmother. Peg was dignified and always found the good in everyone she met.
Ms. Moriarty is survived by her two sons William J. "Bill" Moriarty and his longtime companion, Jean Valentino, Michael J. Moriarty; sister Kitty Maguire; grandchildren Michael Mangione, William T. “Bill” and his wife Jen Moriarty, Meagan and her husband Benjamin Hussey; great grandchildren Evan, Gianna, Brody, Julia, and Greyson; countless nieces and nephews from Ireland; and good friends Mike and Linda Brady. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her son, William Henry Moriarty, brother, John Moriarty, granddaughter, Colleen Mariah Moriarty, daughter in law, Susan Moriarty and former husband, William M. Moriarty.
Peg’s family would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to Father Sullivan who brought peace and comfort to Peg in her last days.
Arrangements: - Relatives and friends may visit with the Moriarty family on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m.at Casey’s Eastside Memorial, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury, CT 06705. Peg’s funeral and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
