AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME
WATERBURY CT - Margaret "Peggy" Chaivanik age 89, of Midfield Ave. Waterbury, died peacefully Tuesday, May 17th at The Vitas Unit of Saint Mary's Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. She was the widow of George Chaivanik to whom she was married to for 59 years prior to his passing in 2003.

Mrs. Chaivanik was born April 1st 1922 in Coxton, PA the daughter of the late John and Mary (Monczos) Liput. She graduated from Duryea High School and worked as an Assembly Supervisor at the former Sperry Electronics until her retirement in 1984. She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who enjoyed traveling to the casino, reading, cooking, and watching her favorite television programs. Most importantly Peggy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Among her survivors, Mrs. Chaivanik leaves her two sons; George "Chip" Chaivanik and his wife Kathy of Bristol and John Chaivanik of Beacon Falls, her brothers Charles Liput of East Patterson, NJ and Andrew Liput of Trenton, NJ, her grandchildren; Steven Chaivanik, Scott Chaivanik and wife Myra, and Stacy Brites and her husband Bryan, and her great grandchildren Tyler and Cole Chaivanik and Brandon Brites. Her siblings; John, George, Joe, Steve, Mike, Annie, Mary, Helen, and Bertha predeceased her.
Peggy's family would like to thank Doctor Donald Rosenthal and all of the staff of the VITAS Unit at Saint Mary's hospital for all the loving and dedicated care they provided to her during her illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Chaivanik will held Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 10:00am from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St Waterbury to Saint Leo the Great Church, 14 Bentwood Ave Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9:00a.m. until the procession leaves for services at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Peggy, may be made to the Yale New Haven Organ Transplant Center, Attn: Judy Ahearn 333 Cedar St New Haven, CT 06520-8062.
