Devoted to her family and her faith


WATERBURY - Margaret Columbo (Stanco) Pelkey, age 88 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2019. She was the beloved wife of Clinton Pelkey, her husband of 69 years.

Mrs. Pelkey was born October 12, 1930 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Pasquale and Erminia (Manfredi) Stanco. She was a lifelong Waterbury resident and a graduate of Wilby High School. Margaret worked in the main office of Chase Brass for a number of years and then for the Howland Hughes Co in downtown Waterbury. She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church, a member of the Ladies' Guild, the Legion of Mary, the parishes Prayer Line Group and also taught religious education. Margaret was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother who found great joy in spending time with her family, especially during the Christmas holiday season.

Left to remember, cherish and honor Margaret's love and legacy, besides her husband, are her sons; Christopher Pelkey and his wife, Donna of Cheshire and Daniel Pelkey and his wife, Mary of Plantsville, her three grandchildren, Kristin Pelkey-Bradley and her husband, Brack and their son, Pearce of Jasper AL, Amy Pelkey of Los Angeles CA and Kyle Pelkey of Wauconda IL as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers; Frank Stanco and Anthony Stanco and her sister, Raphaele Benedict.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pelkey will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury to St. Francis Xavier Church 625 Baldwin St Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Margaret's family on Thursday morning from 8:00 till 9:30 a.m. To honor Margaret's memory and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Office of Radio and TV (Television Mass) 15 Peach Orchard Rd.
