Long time employee of Waterbury Hospital
WATERBURY – Margaret (Hungo) Poplis, age 93, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, in the comfort of her home. She was the widow of Raymond Poplis to whom she was married for 53 years.
Margaret was born on March 4, 1931 in Bethlehem, PA, the daughter of the late Andrew W. and Julia (Kereczman) Hungo. She worked for many years as a front desk receptionist at Waterbury Hospital. Margaret was exceptional in almost every way but she excelled the most at being a devoted wife, sister and aunt.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory is her nephew, Robert Poplis Jr. She was predeceased by her siblings, Michael Hungo, Helen (Hungo) Neilson, Thomas Hungo, and Joseph Hungo.
Funeral services for Mrs. Poplis will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 12 Ardsley Rd, Waterbury. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be held at the Lithuanian Cemetery, Plank Rd Waterbury.
