AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME
NEW HAVEN Margaret (Block) Stewart, age 88, formerly of Wolcott and Watertown, entered into a peaceful death on Wednesday January 20, 2010 at Yale New Haven Hospital, surrounded by her loving daughter and son-in-law. Margaret was the widow of Fletcher "Flip" T. Stewart. .

Margaret was born in Waterbury on February 21, 1921, the daughter of the late Matthew and Amelia (Litschauser) Block. She was raised in Waterbury and graduated from Duggan School and Waterbury Catholic High School. Margaret worked for many years as a bookkeeper and in later years, managed the Senior Center Lunch Program in Wolcott, enjoying many new friends. Leaving Wolcott after 46 years, she moved to Watertown to be closer to her only daughter and family, where she met and enjoyed more wonderful friends. In July of 2008, serious health issues required Margaret to move to Branford Hills Health Care Center.

Margaret is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie (Stewart) and George Brier of Watertown. Margaret also leaves two nephews and their wives, George E. Block Jr. and his wife Deborah of Mattapoisett MA and William Block and his wife Lynn Carlotto of Glastonbury CT and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, George E. Block and his wife Katherine (Tehan) Block.

The family wishes to thank and acknowledge the Staff of Yale New Haven Hospital, particularly the Emergency Room and NCIU, for their tender, loving and knowledgeable care to both patients and their families.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Stewart are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. The Casey ?" O'Donnell Family Funeral Home, 1581 East Main St Waterbury CT has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements. Memorial donations in Mrs Stewart's memory would be greatly appreciated by her family to the Animal Rescue Shelter, The Little Guild of St. Francis, 285 Sharon Goshen Turnpike, West Cornwall CT 06796.
