Devoted to her family
WATERBURY- Margarita (Torres) Medero, age 79, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 17, 2022, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of Ismael Medero for 59 years and spent one last anniversary together on July, 13.
Margarita was born on April 23, 1943 in Hatillo, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Raymond and Carmen (Lopez) Torres. She grew up with her parents, five brothers and a sister. Margarita came to the United States to live in 1962, where she moved to Massachusetts, and then met and married, Ismael in 1963 who together moved to Connecticut in 1967. Margarita lived the rest of her life in Waterbury. Margarita and Ismael went to live with their daughter Myrna and Son in Law Pablo in March of 2020. Both of her daughters lovingly cared for her while in hospice care. Margarita’s main role in life was being a loving caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was taken into heaven on the feast day of Our Lady of Mt Carmel (la Virgen del Carmen) which also was day of birth of her own mother, Carmen Maria Lopez.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory, besides her loving husband, are her two daughters: Myrna and her husband, Pablo Franco Jr., and Lissette and her husband Edwin Sotomayor, her daughter in law, Karen Medero. She leaves her beloved grandchildren; Giovanni, Jennifer, Gabriella, Valentino, Amalia, Myra, Jacob, Jason and Amanda, great grandchildren; Jeremiah, Mariano, Marcos, Valentino Jr., Scarlett, Luca and Alaina. Two grandchildren’s fathers; Jonathan Martinez, and Edwin Palermo, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. Margarita was predeceased by her son Ismael Medero Jr. on March 9, 2020.
Funeral services for Margarita will be held on Saturday July 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury CT 06705. Burial will follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends, many visit with Margarita’s family on Saturday morning from 9:00 till the service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
