AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME, OAKVILLE CT Marguerite "Peggy" (Worgan) Carlson, age 91, formerly of Middlebury, died Friday, January 1, 2010 at the Gladeview Healthcare Center in Old Saybrook after a long illness. She was the widow of Carl I. Carlson Sr. who passed away in July,1990.
Peggy was born January 30, 1918 in New Rochelle NY, the daughter of the late George and Margaret (Mulhall) Worgan. Peggy was a long time employee of the Howland Hughes Department Store in Waterbury. Peggy loved children. Known to all as "Grandma Peggy", her own children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life. She had a wonderful sense of humor, always reached out with warmth and kindness and always saw the best in others. Peggy spent her final years in the care of the Gladeview Healthcenter and her family would like to acknowledge and thank the dedicated staff there as well as those from the Masonicare Hospice Program for the personal, attentive care they provided to Peggy throughout her illness.
Mrs. Carlson is survived by her son, Carl I Carlson Jr and his wife Elayne of Watertown, her daughter, Barbara C. Jalbert and her husband Vincent of East Lyme CT and her sister, Joan Tracy of Middlebury CT. She also leaves three grandchildren, Dawn May of Colchester Ct, Dana Stauffer of Austin TX and Erin Carlson of Watertown CT as well as three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Carlson will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 9:15am from the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St Oakville CT to St. John of the Cross Church, Middlebury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Burial will be in the Middlebury Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 8:15 till 9:15 am.
