THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF MARGUERITE "MAGGIE'' SMITH
WATERBURY, CT- Marguerite "Maggie" J. Smith age 95 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at The Vitas Inpatient Unit of Saint Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Francis Smith.
Maggie was born February 13, 1922 in Waterbury, CT and was a graduate of Rogers High School in Newport R.I. and Saint Mary's School of Nursing, Class of 1943. She married her husband, Francis in 1944 and spent 58 wonderful years together until his passing in 2002. Marguerite spent many years working as a registered nurse through out the Waterbury area but especially enjoyed the years she worked in the Nursery at Waterbury Hospital. Maggie was a member of the Ladies, Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Wolcott and Prospect Senior Centers, the Farmingbury Hills Golf league and was a member of the Perillo's Bowling League as well as the sunshine ladies golf league and the Saints Peter and Paul Church Madonna Guild and their golfing league. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Marguerite will be greatly missed by all who loved her and were blessed to have known her.
Among her survivors are her daughters; Nancy Banno of Naples, FL and Dianne Stockbridge and her husband, Robert of St. Augustine, FL. In addition, she leaves her adoring granddaughters; Leah Stack, Kelly Kearney Lydon, and Shannon Kearney as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Clarence Jarvis and her sister, Florence LaPierre.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Smith will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saints Peter and Paul Church, Southmayd Rd. Waterbury, CT at 11:00 a.m. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Old Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Maggie's family at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St at Southmayd Rd.
