WATERBURY - Maria DaLuz "Lilly" Fernandes Alves age 84 of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, February 11, 2022.
Maria was born in Fogo, Cape Verde Islands on October 11, 1937, daughter of the late Vasco Fernandes. She was predeceased by her husband, the late Domingo Alves Sr., her grandson, Rashaun J. Ivester, Sr. and daughter in law, Priscilla.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Maria "Sucy" Alves, Antonio Alves, Judy (Timothy) Mitchell, Jackie (Michele) Alves, Diana (Vincent) Lilly, Sally (Eddie) Lewis, Nancy (Clayton) Sutton, Domingo Alves, Jr., Dennis (Shamikia) Alves and Tanya (Janice) Alves. One sister, Isaura Barros and a special niece, Monikka Jenkins. She also leaves 37 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 2 grand pugs whom she adored. All who knew and loved her called her "mama".
Funeral services for Mrs. Alves will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 12 noon at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Burial will be held at the convenience of her family. Relatives and friends may visit with the Alves family on Saturday from 11:00 till the service at noon. To honor Maria's memory and in lieu of flowers, , donations can be made to Christ CME Church of Waterbury, CT, P.O. Box 2856, Waterbury, CT 06723. We continue to remain very concerned about the ongoing pandemic so masks will be required during all indoor services regardless of your current vaccination status.
