Loving wife, mother and friend
VERNON - With profound sadness and broken hearts the family of Maryann “Marie Ann” Ackerman, age 81, of Vernon, announce her peaceful passing at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford on August 12th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Kenneth Ackerman.
Maryann was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, on April 2nd, 1943, the daughter of the late Frank Hilbert and Olga Fredrickson. Maryann graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business from Central Connecticut State University. After college she worked for many years doing Clerical work for various employers. She enjoyed working, rescuing numerous boxer dogs; usually one right after the other, and spending her time in Cape Cod. but she was always happiest when she was spending time surrounded by her loving family.
Left to cherish and honor her memory, Maryann is survived by her daughters; Leigh Ackerman and her daughter, Sara Ramos of South Windsor and Eleanor Furbush of East Hartford, her brother-in-law William Ackerman, and many loving nieces and nephews. As our family mourns the loss of a special wife, mother and friend, we are deeply touched by her dear friends; Carole Carozza of Watertown, Karin Marsh of Vernon and Diane Velez of Stafford Springs. Our family acknowledges them for their kindness and how much they loved Maryann throughout their time with her and through her health declining. Maryann was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth and her daughter, Tracy Ackerman.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ackerman will be held on Wednesday August 21st, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. graveside at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 669 Platt Road, Watertown CT. There are no calling hours.
