WATERBURY - It is with great sadness and broken hearts that the family of Marie Claire Grenier, announces her peaceful passing on August 22, 2024, at the Mary Wade Nursing Home in New Haven at the age of 81.
Marie Claire was born March 29, 1943, in Waterbury and received her primary education from St Anne's school in Waterbury Connecticut and later graduated from Waterbury Catholic high School in 1962. While she held several positions during her life she retired from Allied Signal in the Cheshire industrial complex, where she worked as an assembler building gyros for guided missiles. She was an avid reader but her greatest past time love was traveling with her sister. They would spend weekends driving up and down the East Coast to unknown destinations creating wonderful memories. Those were some of the best times of her life. Marie Claire lived a full life. Her vocation was caring for others and especially those in need as she was always there to lend a helping hand. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her family, especially at holidays and special events.
Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Lorraine A. Shaw, along with her nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. She was pre-deceased by her parents; Raymond R. Grenier and Germaine (Berthiaume) Grenier, her two brothers, Raymond E. Grenier and Robert R. Grenier and her niece, Christa Marie Grenier.
In memory of Marie Claire, hug one another a little tighter and remember how much joy she brought into the lives of others. Through all the tears, there is much joy in knowing that God has safely taken her home. We wish to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to the staff and caregivers of Southmayd Home in Waterbury. CT. and Mary Wade Nursing Home in New Haven Connecticut for the kind and loving care shown to "Miss Marie" as she was affectionately called by her thoughtful and generous caregiver at Mary Wade. The love, compassion and dedication shown to her was greatly appreciated and will long be remembered.
Her life will be privately celebrated by her family. We ask for your love and your prayers during this sorrowful time. If you wish to honor her in a special way, a tribute donation to the Alzheimer's Association would be most welcome. With much love, the family of Marie Claire Grenier. Loving-kindness is always welcome, and it only takes a moment to offer a message of condolence and share a memory or words of comfort with the family and friends of someone who was important to you.
