Devoted to her faith, family and friends
SOUTHBURY– Marie May (Cyr) Mazzalupo, age 82, of Heritage Village, Southbury, formerly of Waterbury, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Frank Mazzalupo for 56 wonderful years.
Marie was born on May 26, 1941, in Fort Kent, Maine, the daughter of the late Mack and Bertha (Vaillancourt) Cyr. As a child, Marie and her family moved to Waterbury, CT, where she attended St. Anne’s School and graduated from Kaynor Technical High School. Following high school, Marie went on to work as a Customer Service Manager in various large chain grocery stores for many years. Marie and Frank loved to travel, especially to warm, sunny places like Aruba, and they also enjoyed cruises and trips to Europe. Marie was an avid painter, was gifted with a green thumb, loved trips to Broadway and local theater, and could often be found socializing with her sisters and friends. Having been raised in a large Catholic, faith-filled family, Marie was an active member of St. Anne’s parish and a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne’s. In 2018, she was selected by her community as Waterbury’s “French-Canadian Mayor for the Day”. Despite the years of enjoyment serving her faith and community, nothing was more important to Marie than her family, especially her devoted husband and their daughter CJ, who has been a continual source of pride and joy for them. Marie will undoubtedly be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory, besides her husband, Frank, is her daughter, CJ Mazzalupo, her siblings; Jeanine Daigle, Geneva (Herman) Guerrette, Marilyn Butkus, Frances (Donald) St. Hilaire, Donald (Wanita) Cyr, and Madeline Normandin, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. Marie was predeceased by 5 brothers and 6 sisters.
Funeral services for Marie will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the All-Saints Parish, The Shrine of Saint Anne, 515 S Main St, Waterbury, CT 06706. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Lake Elise Cemetery, Middlebury.
