Devoted Mother, Wife, and Grandmother.
PROSPECT - Marie E. McGrail, age 92 of Prospect, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2018 at the Cheshire House in Waterbury after a brief illness. She was the widow of Joseph C. McGrail
Marie was born November 3rd, 1925 in Waterbury, CT the daughter of the late Francis X. and Nora (Griffin) Parkinson. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School and spent many years working as a CNA at the former East End Convalescent Center now known as the Cheshire House she also spent many years devoting herself to the care of her husband as he battled Parkinson's disease. Marie always had a strong catholic faith and was a long time parishioner of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church in Waterbury and would faithfully watch daily masses on EWTN. Marie would look forward to taking road trips with her husband throughout New England especially in the fall when they would travel to view the foliage in Vermont and New Hampshire.
Among her survivors are her children, Joseph J. McGrail and his wife, Tina of Oakville, and Sharon Rouleau and her husband, Mark of Waterbury. She also leaves her sisters, Delores Acas of Prospect and twin sisters, Arlene and Ellen Parkinson who were her constant companions and care takers and whom she made her home with in Prospect. In addition, she leaves her adored grandchildren Christopher McGrail, Marisa Sullivan, and Jeffrey Rouleau, her great grandchildren Thomas Sullivan and Camille Sullivan as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her beloved son, Brian J. McGrail whom she quietly thought about constantly.
The McGrail family would like to thank and acknowledge both Drs. Jega, for the years of care they have provided to Marie as well as the staff and doctors at Saint Mary's Vitas and The Cheshire House for the loving and compassionate care they provided to Marie during her illness.
Funeral Services for Mrs. McGrail will be held on Monday March 12th 2018 at 10:30 am when a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of Immaculate Conception Church West Main St, Waterbury. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery Waterbury. Family and Friends may visit with Marie's family on Monday morning from 8:30 am until 10:00am at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury.
