CHESHIRE - Marilen B. Pennell, age 87 of Cheshire, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Bradley Memorial Hospital in Southington, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family after a brief illness.
Marilen was born July 30, 1928 in Staten Island NY, the daughter of the late William Leonard and Marie (Dowd) Pennell. She was a graduate of Wilby High School and enjoyed several vocations including Homemaker and Mother, nursing and school bus driver. She loved to sew, knit and make both doll and baby clothing. Above all else, she was a loving and dedicated homemaker, mother and devoted to her children and grandchildren.
Among her survivors are her children; Scott Rosengrant and his wife, Denise of Torrington, Jill Bournival of Cheshire, Barbara Riggs and her husband, Chuck of Terryville and Lynn Hoden-Arthur and her husband, Clifford of Southington. She also leaves her former husband, Michael Hoden of Cheshire, her sisters, Barbara Ablamsky of Morris and Marie Petty of Woodbury and 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, William Pennell and her sister, Shirley Faber. .
Calling hours for Mrs. Pennell will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2106 from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. A brief service will follow at 7:00p.m. Burial in New Pine Grove Cemetery will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
