Mrs. Marilu Vargas

WATERBURY – Marilu (Vega) Vargas, age 60, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2023, at Complete Care of Meriden after a battle with dementia. She was the devoted wife of Mr. Edgardo Luis Vargas of 35 years.

Marilu was born on August 20, 1963, in Penuelas, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Juan Vega and Maria Esther Cruz. Marilu was a woman devoted to her family. She was known for her cooking, her love, and the way she cared for everyone she loved. She was great in many ways especially as a wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Our family thanks you Mom, for every prayer you uttered for us, for the many sacrifices you made for us, for the candles you lit for us, for the thousands of hugs you shared with us and the unending love you instilled in all of us.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory, besides her loving husband, Edgardo, are her daughter, Ashley Vargas and her husband, Luis Rodriguez, and her son, Edgar Joel Vargas, all of Waterbury. Marilu was recently blessed with a granddaughter, Elliana Vargas. She also leaves her siblings, Juan, Orlando, Pedro, Wanda, and Magda, sisters-in-law, Carmen Martinez and Carmen Alicea Vega, and several nieces, nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Vargas will be held Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury, CT 06705. Relatives and friends may visit with the Vargas family from 11:00 a.m. until the service commences at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.
