WATERBURY - Mrs. Marina Alvarado age 63, of Waterbury passed away peacefully on Sunday November 9, 2014 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of Saint Mary's Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of her family after a brief illness. She was the wife of Samuel Alvarado.
Mrs. Alvarado was born October 20, 1951 in Dominican Republic the daughter of Ana Maria Henriquez of Waterbury and the late Gavino Gutierrez. She was a loving and dedicated mother and friend who loved to entertain her family and friends and delight them with her cooking. She helped many individuals in her lifetime. From driving people places to letting them stay in her home until they got on their feet.
Besides her mother Ana Maria and her husband, Samuel of 36 years, Marina is survived by her daughter Llina Hilario of Waterbury, her sons Edgar Hilario, Samuel Alvarado, and Audeliz Barriga all of Waterbury her brothers Apolinar Gutierrez, Juan Isidro Gutierrez both of the Dominican Republic, Juan E. Gutierrez and Porfirio Gutierrez of Waterbury. Her sisters, Nelsida Gutierrez of the Dominican Republic, Antonia Gutierrez of Puerto Rico and Germania Bracken of Plantsville. Her grandchildren, Edgar Hilario, Amber Hilario, Brianna Jewiss, Maximiliano Hilario, Alaysha Alavarado, Elanna Hughes and Samiyah Alvarado. Her special nieces Maryuri Gonzalez and Maria Rivera as well as many other nieces, nephews, God children and cousins.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the entire staff at Vitas Innovative Care Unit who took amazing care of our loved one. We could not have gotten through such a difficult time without their loving care and support.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Alvarado will be held on Thursday, November13, 2014 at 12:00 noon at Eastside Memorial "A Casey Family Funeral Home & Tribute Center" 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd. in Waterbury. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Marina's family on Thursday morning at the funeral home from 9:00am until the time of the service at Noon.
