THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF MARIO PETRO-ROY
WATERBURY - Mario Petro-Roy, age 89, of Watertown, formerly of Waterbury, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 30, 2018 surrounded by his loving family after an extended illness. He was the beloved husband of Jean (Minnehan) Petro-Roy for 58 years.
Mario was born May 8, 1929 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Giovanni and Angelina (Mascia) Petro-Roy. He attended local schools and proudly served his country with the US Army where he was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Mario spent many years working as a tool setter at Waterbury Companies, Inc. until his retirement in 1991. He was an avid golfer, a diehard Boston Red Sox fan and more recently, enjoyed going to see the Hartford Yardgoats. He was a past Post 8 Commander of the Favale-Generali Italian-American War Veterans Club and was a parishioner of Mary, Mother of the Church Parish.
Besides his wife, Mario is survived by his daughter, Diane Meccariello of Glastonbury, his son, Michael Petro-Roy and girlfriend, Becky Galian of Waterbury, and his cherished grandson, Andrew Meccariello with whom he had a special bond serving as his father figure. He also leaves his brother, Frank Petro-Roy and his wife, Betty of NH and his dear friend of many years, Lloyd Byrd and his wife, Lucinda and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Petro-Roy will be held on Saturday, September 1st 2108 at 10:30 a.m. from Casey's Eastside Memorial Home 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury to Mary, Mother of the Church Parish formerly Saints Peter & Paul, 67 Southmayd Rd, Waterbury when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Committal services will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with Mario's family on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
