Waterbury

Devoted to her faith and her family

WATERBURY - With heavy hearts, the family of Marion Colella sadly announce her unexpected passing at Waterbury Hospital on Monday July 8, 2024, after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Deacon Charles G. Colella of 40 years.

Marion Colella was born on December 2, 1941 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Michael and Rita (Cantito )Izzo. She was the former owner and operator of Personal Image where she worked as a beautician and master barber and then served as the Deputy Registrar of Voters for the City of Waterbury, where she made significant contributions to the electoral process and the local government. Her passion for civic engagement and ensuring fair elections earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and the residents she served.

Marion was a woman of profound faith and a dedicated and active member of the Saint Leo the Great Church in Waterbury, CT. Marion was deeply involved in various religious activities, including serving as a eucharistic minister, a member of the Ladies Guild and the church choir, and was the former director of Religious Educations at Saints Peter and Paul Parish. She proudly dedicated her time and service as an associate nun for the Daughters of the Holy Spirit and was a member of the Columbiettes and the Red Hatter Society.

Marion lived a life full of purpose and commitment to her family and work, but her gentle spirit and love for her family will be remembered by all who knew her. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often spending her free time reading and enjoying dinners out with her dear friends and family. Marion's legacy of faith, service, and dedication to her community will forever be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace in the loving embrace of her Savior’s arms. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, as they gather to celebrate her life and legacy.

Marion was the beloved wife of Charles Colella, a cherished mother to Anthony Cappellina Jr and Veronica "Ronnie" Coppola, and devoted grandmother “Grammy” to Samantha Alleva and her husband Justin and Andrew Coppola Jr, as well as a great-grandmother to Alexandria and Maxon. She was predeceased by her brother, Michael Izzo
