THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF MARION H. SMITH
Long Time Parishioner of St Michaels Church"
WATERBURY -Marion H. (Barstis) Smith, age 94, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 15, 2021 at the Apple Health and Rehabilitation Center in Watertown, CT. She was the widow of Wilson Smith.
Marion was born November 29, 1926, in Waterbury, CT, and was a graduate of Leavenworth High School. She spent many years working as a nursing assistant for various facilities throughout the Waterbury area. Marion was a longtime parishioner of St. Michaels Church, serving on various committees. Marion enjoyed volunteering at the polls during city elections and was an avid reader. Marion's biggest joy was spending time with her family. The Barstis family is well known for its celebrations and would gather for almost any occasion. They always laugh at how they can find a reason to celebrate even the smallest moments in their lives. Marion lived her life on three principles: Family, Faith, and Friends.
Marion was blessed to have a loving sister-in-law, Eva Barstis, who was a kind, attentive caretaker but, more importantly, a devoted friend during the last few years of her life. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her daughter, Deborah Delisle and husband, Jim of South Carolina. She leaves her grandchildren Matthew and wife Jennifer, James, and Sean and great grandchildren Tylor and Wyatt. Marion also leaves several nieces and nephews who were like children to her. She was predeceased in death by seven siblings.
