Mark Losyev, age 88, formerly of Waterbury passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of his family on Saturday February 25, 2017 at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center in Roslindale, MA after an extended illness. He was the widower of Margaritas (Ozerova) Losyev
Mark was born April 24, 1928 in Ukraine, Russia the son of the late Rosa Yabov and Isaak Losyev and immigrated to the U.S. in 1995 where he settled in Waterbury. Mark was an accomplished Geologist, spent many years working for the Soviet Union and was featured in many books, journals, and other publications including an article in the Waterbury Observer several years ago. He enjoyed reading, basketball, and especially soccer. His favorite soccer team was Pahtakor.
Among his survivors are his sons Sergey Losyev of West Palm Beach FL, Grigoriy Losyev and his wife, Irina of Boston, his sister Lora Yukubova, as well as his grandson Sergey Jr. and two granddaughters named Masha.
Funeral services for Mr. Losyev were held privately when Mark was laid to rest next to his wife Margaritas in All Saints Cemetery Waterbury, on Monday February 27, 2017. Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury, CT has been entrusted to assist the family with the arrangements.
