THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF MARK NORTON
"U.S. Air Force Veteran"
SILVER SPRING MD Mark Edward Norton, age 57, of Silver Spring, Maryland passed away peacefully at Casey House Montgomery Hospice on June 13, 2020.
Have you ever received a hug so big, so wide that it made you feel like home? This was the standard Mark greeting, filled with love, comfort and genuine joy to see you. Mark received his call to heavenly duty on 6.13.2020. This new assignment came with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with friends and family he has not seen in a long time.
Growing up in Waterbury, CT, surrounded by women, his mother Judy and his three sisters Deborah, Kamala and Dawn; Mark embraced the role as the protector using his 6'-2" frame to his advantage. He took pride in teaching his sisters to take no crap, to correct their posture, and to make their own money. He adored each of them dearly, even allowed his best friend Ray to marry his sister Kamala. When it came to HVAC and plumbing, Mark was one of the best in the business and he loved working. Having spent 39 years in the trade, and 20 of those years owning his own company - Mark E. Norton HVAC and Plumbing Inc. He took pride in his work and it showed having been rated A in the Better Business Bureau.
He excelled at his business, learning his trade, living within his means, mastering the game of chess, and reading any history book that came his way. He had a strong appreciation for old craftsmanship, debating copper over pex, the Patriots, UConn women's basketball and watching classic movies. After a long day's work he had a serious love for food and an appetite to prove it. Always with a special request for Arabic food, because he said it felt like "home". His distinct, hearty laugh could fill a room. He loved to reminisce about old stories. And with a bigger heart his stories always had impactful lessons. Mark was a generous giver, it brought him true joy to spend his vacation time driving to CT to install a new boiler or help reroute plumbing at his sisters' and niece's homes.
A people person by nature, Mark took interest in everyone that came his way, showing humility to all. Even during his last days he took hold of his nurse's hand to thank her for her service. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force and his words "ever forward, never back" will continue to live on.
Left to honor his legacy and remember his love and memories are his sister, Deborah (Norton) Vanasse and husband Raymond, his sister Kamala (Norton) Dion and her husband Raymond, and his sister Dawn Marie Spina, his father Thomas Earl Norton of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and his nephews; Jason Vanasse and wife Raquel, Jeffery Vanasse and his wife Suzanne of California, Raymond Seth Dion of West Palm Beach, Florida and his niece Brittney Mayo and her husband Nick. He also left behind 4 great nephews and one great niece.
