WATERBURY CT - Martha W. Blair, age 90 of Waterbury passed away peacefully at home on September 7, 2017 surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She was the wife of William Blair Jr.
Martha was born on March 29, 1927 in Waterbury the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Bandurski) Duglenski. A devoted wife and selfless mother of seven, grandmother to eleven, and great grandmother to thirteen, Martha's greatest joy was spending time with her large family, attending and cheering at every event, entertaining with grace in her home, and caring for them in every way possible. They were the focus and center of her life.
Martha was educated in local schools and attended Wilby High School where she was a cheerleader. She was proud of her Polish heritage and was an active member of SS. Peter & Paul Parish where she was a member of the Madonna Guild, PTO and many other groups. Martha loved to travel, play tennis and golf with her husband, bowl in her women's league, and was an enthusiastic member of the USO. She had a quick wit, fun humor, an exceptionally generous spirit as well as many creative talents, She was renowned for her delicious baked goods.
Besides her deeply devoted husband Bill of 70 years, she is survived by her children who adored her: William T. of Litchfield, Robert of Falls Village, Bruce and his wife Kathy of Wolcott, Barbara Jackson and her husband Gordon of Austin TX, Elizabeth Mascia and her husband Anthony of Prospect and Beverly Wawer and her husband Mark of Litchfield CT and daughter-in-law Bonnie of Thomaston.
She also leaves her loving grandchildren: Rebecca, Jennifer, Courtney, Daniel, Keith, Sarah, Anthony, Cody, John and Nathan. She was predeceased by her son Brian, daughter-in-law Diana, granddaughter, Denise Blair and siblings, Charles, Lucy (Niesobecki), Irene (Rowlison) and Sophie (Solury).
Martha's family would like to express their sincere thanks to Hartford HealthCare, and their wonderful hospice team, especially Aika, who was Martha's constant caregiver in her final months.
Funeral services for Mrs. Blair will be held on Monday September 11, 2017 at 9:00 a.m from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St Waterbury, CT to SS. Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Martha's family on Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 4:00 till 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
