SOUTHINGTON - Martha Elizabeth Nilsson, 77 years old, of Southington, Connecticut passed away peacefully on February 2nd, 2024 with her loving children by her side.
Martha was born on September 30th, 1946 to parents Jacqueline and Neil Noonan in Lowell, Massachusetts. She was one of twelve children and maintained a close bond with all of her siblings throughout her life. Martha enjoyed a very successful and rewarding career as a Realtor at Century 21. She was also an esteemed member of the National Association of Women’s Gymnastics Judges for over 25 years. This was a passion she shared with her daughter Karin as well as her granddaughters.
She is survived by her three children, Jessica Fonte of Woodbury, Karin Galizia and husband Corrado of Avon, and Erik Nilsson and wife Samantha of Middlebury; her grandchildren Emily and Jack Fonte, Enzo, Reese and Paige Galizia and Hannah and Elliot Nilsson; her siblings Paula Davis, Jamie Bosse, Jessica Powers, Cynthia Dykes, Gregory Noonan and Jonathan Noonan and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Neil and Jacqueline, her husband Phillip, and her siblings: Pamela Gray, Deborah Warner, Neil Noonan, Lisa Panteleakis and Timothy Noonan.
Martha was joyful, dedicated and loyal. She had a genuine love for her family and made certain to be present at every special event and milestone. Martha’s bright energy and positive spirit will be greatly missed. Her legacy will live on in her children and adoring grandchildren who were fortunate enough to call her “Grammy”.
As we say goodbye to Martha, let us remember her for the love she shared, the joy she brought, and the lasting impact she had on the lives of those who loved her.
A Memorial Service for Mrs Nilsson will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 10:30 a,m, at Plantsville Congregational United Church of Christ, 109 Church Street Plantsville, Connnecticut. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
